365 Days of Poetry — Day161

Empty your baskets and burn your bridges.
Fill all your caskets and release all your visions.
This is the time of war:
a place for the vagabonds of unaided hoards.

Drain your ditches and pack up your homes.
Kill all your finches and clean all the bones.
This is the time of war:
a place for no human still living on port.

Escape from the torches that light up this hell;
Hide from the shadows of their liberty’s bell.
This is the time of war.
This is the time of war.
